Heritage Master Plan Update

Improved design and residential addition unveiled

Published: 06.08.2023

Russell Lands’ newest waterfront community, The Heritage, has received an upgrade and an addition. The upgrade includes enhancements to The Benjamin Lake Club and Wicker Point Golf Club. The addition is the final approved design of the second phase of beautiful waterfront homesites on Wicker Point peninsula.

The newest enhancements and additions can be seen on The Heritage master plan below. The original plan, released in 2022, showed our early thinking for the location and general features for amenities like The Benjamin Lake Club. One year later, we have confirmed many features for the lake club, such as the community docks, beach, event lawns, tennis, and pickleball. Those features remain mostly unchanged.

Recent enhancements include a second pool, ideal for fitness and adult fun, as well as an enhanced resort-style main pool. Adjacent to the pool is an owner’s snack bar for poolside service of light fare and drinks (Yes, some will come with little umbrellas!). Inside the lake club, the fitness area has been expanded to include a larger yoga and aerobics space on the pool level. On the main level, we have added an owner’s bar for cool comfort when its five o’clock somewhere.

As for the enhancements to Wicker Point Golf Club, this is much like the lake club. It is a combination of confirmation and refinement. We have confirmed the reservation of a beautiful plateau bordered by holes 11, 12, 13, and 14. We planned to build at that location a collection of buildings we call Golf Cottages. The cottages are actually attractive buildings that will have either two units or four units and can best be described as luxury hotel-style rooms with optional living spaces.

We believe that Wicker Point Golf Club will be so impressive to its members that they will want to invite family and friends to come and visit for golf outings. Having a place to call home for a long weekend, surrounded by the Coore & Crenshaw-designed golf course, seems like a pretty high-demand feature to us!

The addition of another collection of waterfront homesites on Wicker Point peninsula has caused a great deal of excitement. The Phase One lots, which we initially thought would supply us for two-plus years—beyond a fall 2023 club opening—sold within weeks. That caused us to advance our planning and construction to provide homesites for the many people who missed a chance to acquire a property in Phase One.

We think, for those who have been waiting, it will be worth the wait. Phase Two lots are larger than those in Phase One. Phase Two lots average 1.4 acres and 290 feet of shoreline compared to 1 acre and 270 feet of shoreline in Phase One (See map for scale comparison). The collection of lots in Phase Two has a variety of land types and views to give very attractive options for anyone looking for a homesite in The Heritage.

Construction crews are working hard to make the above amenities and properties a reality. The Benjamin Lake Club site work has begun with a projected completion date of early summer of 2025. Construction of the golf cottages will begin this summer with completion of the first units scheduled for late summer of 2024.

As for the Phase Two properties, road work will finish in the next several weeks, and we will release the price list and sales maps on July 6, 2023. If you have an early interest in these properties or would like to receive the sales material when released, please reach out to one of our Sales Executives at 256.215.7011 or by email today.
