Fall Family Festival
Saturday, October 31 – 10am-1pm
Russell Crossroads

Ladies and gentlemen, start your ovens!

Did you know that there are some great talented bakers in the Lake Martin area? You should see the outstanding baked goods these folks bring every year to compete at the Fall Family Festival! Mouthwatering German Chocolate cakes, Turtle Cheesecakes, or hot, juicy, out-of-the-oven, bubbling Apple Pies with homemade, hand-cranked ice-cream! We can’t wait to see what appears on the table this year! And, yes, there is a blue ribbon! But that’s not all! For First Place, there is a $100 cash prize and a trip to SpringHouse restaurant up for grabs! Second Place picks up $50 and dinner at Kowaliga Restaurant, and Third Place earns a $25 Gift Card from Catherine’s Market plus $25 in cash.

Are you a baker? Then you should pull out your favorite cake, pie, cheesecake, or other recipe and enter! We usually judge around noon, so you can wake up Saturday morning and whip up a blue-ribbon winner just in time to enter! The Baking Contest is just one part of the fun that you will find at this year’s Fall Family Festival at Russell Crossroads.

Tons of fun for the kids, too!

The festival gets underway at 10am on Saturday, October 31 with a scavenger hunt, where you’ll see hot metal pounded into fun things like knives or nails in the Blacksmith Shop, while nearby the guys at the gristmill will take whole-kernel corn and grind it into fine cornmeal—ready to make a nice pan of cornbread for dinner. We’ll have horseback rides, Farmer Brown’s live animals, and tons of games for the kids to play. Don’t forget to grab your pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch before you leave. Can you believe it? All of this fun only costs $25 per family (based on a family of 4), with individual tickets available at $10 each. And if you want an extra pumpkin, you can have one for an additional $5.

Fun and safe

At this year’s Fall Family Festival, we will be complying with Alabama Department of Public Health guidelines. Masks will be required. Wagon rides will be one family at a time, and the game area will be larger and disinfected regularly—as will be the bows and arrows in the archery area. The animal food will be in individual cups instead of from the big bucket, and additional staff will help facilitate each area of the festival. Hand sanitizer will be provided. We want the Fall Family Festival to be a fun and safe event for both you and our staff!

Make plans to join us from 10am–1pm on the Town Green at Russell Crossroads!
