Let’s Go House Shopping

A curated list of lake homes at Russell Lands on Lake Martin

Published: 06.13.2024

For those who find combing through real estate websites to find a lake home a bit tedious, we selected a sampling of lake homes in four of Russell Lands’ lake neighborhoods. We hope that you enjoy perusing these lovely homes over a cup of coffee. That is not quite as good as coming to the lake for a visit, but maybe this can help you start a shopping list!

Windermere West

What a wonderful lake neighborhood. This property, like many other Windermere West homes, has a terrific blend of a quiet, private setting, calm waterfront, and big-water views. This area is close to Russell Crossroads with Catherine’s Market, SpringHouse, and Fanny Goldmine Diner.

The vitals on our sampled home on 496 Windy Wood are five bedrooms, four-and-one-half bathrooms, gorgeous kitchen, expansive outdoor living, two-car carport, custom pier, and 211 feet of gorgeous waterfront. This is a large lake home with plenty of indoor and outdoor room to roam, especially for the price. At just $1,945,000, this might be the best deal on the lake!

The Ridge on Lake Martin

The Ridge is the largest lakefront community on Lake Martin. Over 500 properties have been developed and sold in this amenity-rich community. The Ridge boasts The Ridge Club, multiple parks, miles of trails, community boat launch, and Lake Martin’s largest marina, The Ridge Marina, and includes multiple phases with diverse property types.

An early favorite waterfront home in The Ridge is this lake home located at 49 Shady Ridge. This home, designed and built by renowned architect Bobby McAlpine, set a high bar for other architects to reach. We love the cool cabin feel in this multi-level charmer. The main level has an impressive kitchen, huge dining room, and fabulous living room.

This home is all about the views and the uninterrupted band of windows on the second floor that feature open views to the lake from virtually every angle. We think this is a “must-see” property. Recently updated and priced at $2,789,000, this is a bargain for a masterpiece.

Willow Point

One of the first neighborhoods developed by Russell Lands, Willow Point is considered by many to be the “Mountain Brook” or “Buckhead” of Lake Martin. The centerpiece of the neighborhood is Willow Point Golf & Country Club, arguably one of the most popular clubs in the state. Homesites in Willow Point tend to be larger than the lake’s average which makes them highly sought after.

This sample property, 288 Fairway Drive, is located across the street from Willow Point’s golf course—fairway in the front, water in the back. What a combination! Vitals on this classic Willow Point house are five bedrooms, four full baths, and two half baths. The house has been totally renovated which shows off the fabulous “open concept” main living area. For those looking for a lake home that a large family can enjoy, this is the lake home for you. Priced at $3,300,000, it’s a bargain for Willow Point.

The Heritage

This is the new master-planned community that has all of Lake Martin buzzing. The Heritage is an upscale, amenity-rich development. The first completed amenity is the beautiful and private Wicker Point Golf Club with the Coore & Crenshaw-designed course. Golf Digest recognized this course as one of the top three new courses in 2023. The other key amenity, The Benjamin Lake Club, is under construction and scheduled to open in June of 2025.

Our sample property, 438 Luanne’s Way, is a rare offering for The Heritage as the first completed “for-sale” home in the community. To date, the vast majority of sales—over 100 waterfront properties—have been to owners designing custom lake homes. Construction activity in The Heritage has been setting the pace for Lake Martin.

Like all Heritage waterfront properties, the property size is above the lake’s average. The vitals of this Mitch Ginn-designed lake home are five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, two half baths, two-story outdoor living, and over 4,400 square feet of conditioned living space which is laid out for large families or guest groups.

Built to last by one of Lake Martin’s most experienced builders, Kenny McBride, we invite you to compare this with any comparable home. We think the $3,299,000 asking price is a value in this community.
