The summer months can be hot in Central Alabama, but with so many water activities to choose from, most people don't mind. The coldest month is January, but the lows rarely drop below freezing. CommerceCommerce around Lake Martin is varied - from various industries, unique retail shops to lake tourism and recreation. Chamber of commerces from around the area work together and with other businesses and organizations to further grow incoming businesses. The Alexander City, Dadeville, and Wetumpka chambers work with organizations such as Lake Martin Economic Development Alliance and Operation Downtown in Alexander City. Medical care is excellent in the Lake Martin area with Russell Medical Center located in Alexander City, as well as an abundance of family and specialty physicians. Two military bases are located just a short drive away in Montgomery - Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter. Maxwell also operates a camping and boating area near Dadeville on County Road 34.
